Restoration of 1938 Tadhg Crowley Set ( Jack Rea's Pipes )
These were my father's first set of pipes, made for him by his friend and teacher, Tadhg Crowley, Cork. He later gave them to his brother Jack Rea, who was an accomplished War Piper and Uilleann Piper in Kilavullen, Co. Cork. They were recently given to me by my incredibly generous cousin, Nellie, (Jack's daughter) and her family. I remember well playing this set, as a very young lad every Sunday afternoon, while visiting Jack in Kilavullen. I am so looking forward to the day I fire them up again and re-live those magical, musical moments in Jack Rea's house. Watch this space!!
