The Taylor inspired bass regulator return unit is an alternative to the more common over arm tube that extends the working length of the bass regulator. Many pipers, myself included, prefer these because we find the over arm version tends to push the regulators down and away from the piper. The pipes tend to sit flatter on your lap and, in my opinion, encourage a healthier, more comfortable playing posture when using the Taylor return unit.
